The files take their name from the filing cabinet where they were kept - originally filed under U for unsolved, they grew too big for the drawer and were moved to the less populated X cabinet. Only two more episodes in this revival series, and I am REALLY excited to see 1) the meaning behind Mrs. An episode dedicated to the Scully/Mulder family dynamic would have been less metaphorical and much more meaningful, in my humble opinion.

That being said, this series has been a love letter to fans and so the meshing of MOTW with mytharc seems fitting, if not somewhat tactless in terms of story content. BUUUUT there was so much going on relevant to the larger mytharc of the show, I would have preferred the tulpa story to be less off-the-wall and more integral to the вЂњnormalвЂќ themes of TXF.

On one hand, I understand the homage to the MOTW phenomenon, and I appreciate what the revival has been doing in those terms so far, during the mini-series. is to their work with the X-Files, and the stage is set for them to go and find their son FINALLY. In the end, Scully admits to Mulder how much she wants him to find their son, emphasizing how important she believes William Jr. Of course, they run into the nasty, gross, slimy, booger-looking Trash Man, who rips people (literally) apart and then other things happened with the monster but I was too busy ugly crying over Scully, Mulder and William Jr to care about the MOTW any longer, which, to be fair, wasnвЂ™t that great of a plot point to begin with. Scully, of course, decides to throw herself into the tulpa case, which obviously isnвЂ™t a good idea, but Mulder supports her and helps her through her grief as they head to find the artist who created the tulpa. Scully has requested to be taken off life support in her will, and after she has been, she wakes up long enough to ask to speak to her estranged son (?) and implore Mulder to find her grandson, William Junior, before she takes her last breath and dies. The episode deals with DNR, living will and organ donation, all deeply personal issues that Scully is forced to go through alone (but not really, because Mulder is there), as her brother William travels to D.C. While the pair has had a distinctly divorcee vibe, this episode reminds audiences how entrenched in each otherвЂ™s lives the two are, when Mulder soon shows up to be by ScullyвЂ™s side as she watches her mother slip away. While this seems to be, at first, a standard MOTW episode, audiences get a visit from the past when, during the middle of (more like the beginning of) the case, Scully gets a call that her mother has suffered a heart attack and immediately, Mulder tells her to go home. This episode reiterates for me the fact that no one wants to be the person in the first five minutes of The X-Files (or Supernatural) because eThe tulpa, we find out, has been created by a local artist, who wanted to help his city, but lost control of the tulpa, aka The Trash Man, and has been hiding away from the consequences of his actions. So far, we know the TRUTH is out there, we STILL want to believe, and MSR (Mulder Scully Romance) continues toВ hurt so good.
